Christian Geels, Sr., of Sheldon, father of Mrs. Howard Stephens and James Geels of Ireton, passed away suddenly at the home of his son, Wm. Geels at Sheldon, Jan. 2 at the age of 84. He was born in the Netherlands. He was a Sioux County resident since 1887 and was married to Nellie Oranje, who also preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Reformed Church at Sheldon with the Rev. Wm. Bajema officiating and Dr. B. Bronkema of Orange City assisting. Burial was in the Orange City cemetery.

Survivors include six children, Christian Geels, Jr. of Bellingham, Wash.; Wm. Geels, Mrs. James Vogal of Sheldon; Rev. John Geels of Sully; Mrs. Howard Stephens and James Geels of Ireton. Thirty grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
