Charles M. Gaul, 53, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Hawarden, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1986, in a hospital in Colorado Springs after a long illness.

Services were at 11 A.M., Wednesday, Feb. 19, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden. Rev. Edmund Adams officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Pallbearers were Steve Gaul, Bo Heeren, Rick Heeren, Jim Gaul, David Gaul and Kyle Gaul.

Mr. Gaul was born June 27, 1932, in Granville. He graduated from Hawarden High School in 1950 and received a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Colorado at Greeley. He moved to Colorado Springs in 1959 where he taught school prior to serving as principal of Doherty High School from 1977 until 1985.

Survivors include three brothers, Milo of St. Paul, MN; Ray of Scranton, and James of Sergeant Bluff; three sisters, Penny Andriesen, Mrs. Perry (Bernice) Bader and Mrs. LeRoy (Lois) Heeren, all of Hawarden.

A memorial has been established for the Charles M. Gaul Scholarship Fund with Doherty High School.
