Irene E. Eilts, 91, of Hawarden, formerly of Ireton, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1992, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services were Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Ireton. Rev. Perry Schefelker officiated. Burial was at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Ireton under direction of Porter-Dow funeral home in Ireton.

Eilts, the former Irene Bertram, was born Sept. 9, 1890, near Ireton, the daughter of Charles and Louisa (Kluter) Bertram. She married Henry Eilts March 10, 1926, in Ireton. The couple farmed southeast of Ireton until 1930, when they moved to a farm north of Ireton. They retired and moved into town in 1951. Mr. Eilts died Nov. 19, 1957. She moved to Hass Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden in November 1990. Mrs. Eilts was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed.

Survivors include a son, Lloyd, and his wife, Jean, of Ireton; three daughters, Mrs. Bud (Delma) Vreeman of Ireton, Helen Nitzschke of Edina, Minn., and Mrs. Alvin (Ruth) Van Den Berg of Ireton; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Vernon; an infant grandson, Kent Vreeman; and two brothers, Edward Bertram and Lorenz Bertram.
