Rites Are Held August 21 for Carmel Girl

Funeral services for Ronata Franken, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Franken, were held Monday, August 21, at 2 p.m. in the Carmel Reformed Church with Rev. Brook Stephens officiating. Interment was in the Carmel Cemetery under the direction of the Cooperative Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

She was born December 19, 1947 in Hull, Iowa. She attended school in Rock Valley and Sioux Center, graduating from Sioux Center high school in 1965.

She passed away at the Sioux Center Community Hospital on August 19 after a lingering illness with cancer.

She is survived by her parents; six sisters and two brothers, Judith (Mrs. Bernard Franken), Gretchen, Mary, Leon, Susan, Kathryn, Thomas and Laura, all of Rock Valley; [and] her grandfathers Gerrit Franken of Sioux Center and Henry W. Duistermars of Orange City.
