Neal Schouten, 86, of Hawarden died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1992, at Hass Hillcrest Center in Hawarden.

Services were held at the Christian Reformed Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Marvin Vander Vliet officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery, under the direction of the Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mr. Schouten was born Sept. 20, 1906, in Uthrecht, The Netherlands, the son of Peter and Grace (Vennis) Schouten. He came to the United States and the Rock Valley area in 1920. He married Clara Boerma Feb. 19, 1930, in Hawarden. The couple farmed in the Hawarden area until retiring into town in 1972. He moved to the care center in October 1990.

Mr. Schouten was a member of The Christian Reformed Church Where he was a past board Member.

Survivors include his wife: two Sons and their wives, Peter and Chris of Ireton and Gerrit and Joyce of Hawarden; two sisters; Eight grandchildren; and nine Great-grandchildren.
