Gertrude Theresa Baker was born to Henry and Gertie (Vander Kooi) Tuininga on February 6, 1920 in Worthington, MN. She was raised on a farm by Boyden, IA. She attended school in Middleburg, Boyden and Hull; completing the eighth grade.

Gertrude married George Baker on December 8, 1956 in Edgerton, MN. They lived on a farm by Orange City and were blessed with two sons, Calvin and Paul. She enjoyed cleaning house, gardening, crocheting and helping her friends. She was very active in church.

Gertrude is survived by her son, Calvin Baker and his wife, Debbie of Orange City; her son, Paul Baker of Sioux Center; two grandsons: Matthew Baker his wife, Rhonda and their daughter, Teaira of Spanaway, WA, and Benjamin Baker his wife, Amy and their daughter, Jessica of Orange City along with her brother, Clarence Tuininga of Las Vegas, NV and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Baker; her parents; two brothers: Benjamin Tuininga and his wife, Jean and Harry Tuininga and his wife, Margaret; her sister, Cora Bleyenberg and her husband, Dick and a sister-in-law, Frances Tuininga.
