Mrs. Hattie Kleinhesselink, age 92, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2010, at the Orange City Area Health System Hospital.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, July 16, at 10:30am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. Pastor Bryan Dick will officiate. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Thursday at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City, with the family present the hour before the service on Friday at the church.

Hattie was born on February 3, 1918, in rural Orange City, the daughter of Herman and Cynthia (Te Grotenhuis) Nibbelink, who lived on a farm northwest of Orange City. She attended the Orange City Christian School.

On February 3, 1939, she married Henry William Kleinhesselink at her family’s farm home. They farmed northeast of Orange City, where she was a homemaker. In 1979, they semi-retired into town. In 2000, they moved to the Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community in Orange City. In February of 2008, she transferred to the Orange City Area Health System Long Term Care Facility. Henry passed away on October 20, 2009, in Orange City, after more than seventy years of marriage.

Mrs. Kleinhesselink was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where she belonged to the Faith, Hope, and Love Society. She was also a member of the Monica Society.

Hattie enjoyed gardening and canning the fruits and vegetables, like watermelon pickles. She made beautiful embroidered pillow cases, towels, and quilts for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, making angel food cakes for birthdays and cinnamon rolls for the entire family every Sunday. Mrs. Kleinhesselink played the harmonica and piano, but also liked just listening to music. She was an avid reader and loved to visit with her family members and relatives, especially the grandchildren.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Jo and Perry Van Gorp, of Sioux Center; Helen and Pete Pals and Harlan and Diane Kleinhesselink, all of Orange City; Larry and Pat Kleinhesselink, of Sheldon; and Norma and Kevin Ward, of Iowa City; fifteen grandchildren and their spouses, Barb Van Gorp, Karen and Darryl Ten Pas, Steve and Anzur Van Gorp; Robin and Doug Rylaarsdam, Kay andJeff Joiner; Janet and Virg Kiel, Jeanine and Robert Oolman, Michael and Kay Kleinhesselink; Lori and Joe Pohlen, Kevin and Staci Kleinhesselink, Trisha and Ryan Cannoy, Justin Kleinhesselink; Phil Ward, Greg Ward, and Mark Ward; thirty-one great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; a brother and his wife, Bernie and Hazel Nibbelink and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Nibbelink and Dorella Kleinhesselink, all of Sioux Center; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Alma and Milt Bogaard, of Orange City.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters and their spouses, Herman and Jeanette Nibbelink, Bill and Josie Nibbelink, Grace and Ted Bouwman, Dena Brink, John and Alice Nibbelink, Wilmina and Henry Blankespoor, Gerrit and Henrietta Nibbelink, and Henry Nibbelink.
