Mrs. Thiel who has been suffering with paralysis for several weeks, died Wednesday morning she was 58 years old and leaves a husband and ten children to mourn her loss. The Democrat extends sympathy to the bereaved friends and relatives.
(The Sioux Co. Cem. Index lists - Katie Thiel b. 6 dec 1834 died 22 Jun 1892, her husband Mathias Thiel b. 25 Apr 1823 died 15th or 23 of Dec 1892 both buried in St. Mary's Cemetery Alton IA. Further it was found on Ancetry.com that Catherine Reiter Mrs. Mathias Thiel was born 6 Dec 1834 in Beurig Germany, her parents were Mathias Reiter and Elizabeth Konz. She had the following children: Anna 1852, Mathais 1854, Michael 1857, Joseph 1858, Nick 1860, John 1863, Margaret 1865, Peter 1867, Mary 1869, Nicholas 1871, Geroge 1872, Kate 1876.)
