Mrs. Robert Walsh, 88, Alcester, died Friday, Aug. 31 at a Hawarden Hospitial of a sudden illness.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Alcester Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul Van Camp officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under direction of the Wass Funeral Home.
Mrs. Walsh, the former Cleo Brown, was born Dec 17, 1890, in Oakland, Iowa. She moved to Hand County,SD., with her parents and she received her education there. She later moved to Lincoln, Neb. with her parents. She taught school there four years. She was married June 18, 1919, at Lincoln. The couple lived in Lincoln until 1929 when they moved to Chicago for two years. They later moved to Arkansas where they lived until 1946 then they moved to Centerville, SD. They lived at Centerville until 1955 when they moved to Canton. They moved to Alcester in 1961. Her husband died in 1963. She had lived with a daughter at Alcester since 1963
Survivors include four daughters Mrs. Alice Johannsen of Alcester, Mrs. Evelyn Hunt and Mrs. Irene Matthews, both of Harrison Ark., and Mrs. Roberta Brandsma of Harlan, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
