Leon R. Anderson Sr.,58, of Hawarden, died Friday in a hospital in Hawarden of long illness.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Dow Funeral Homme in Hawarden. The Rev. Robert Hansen officiated. Burial was in the Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was born June 18, 1920, at Hawarden. He joined the Navy July 30, 1940. He made his home in various areas and returned to Hawarden in 1958.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Sheryl) Stearns of Camanche, two sons, Leon R.Jr. of Great Lake Naval Base in Illinois and Merle of Clinton; four grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence of Alameda, Calif. and Harold of Des Moines; four sisters, Mrs. Charles (Ellen) Green of Oakland, Calif.,Mrs. Stanley(Lillian) Mac Adow of Denver, Colo. and Mrs.Faye (Irene)Adams and Mrs. Robert (Fern) Garrett, both of Hawarden.

Note: He was married to Betty Jean Storts but they divorced.
