Clyde I. Vernon Dies at Age 74

Funeral services for Clyde I. Vernon,74, Minneapolis brother of Fred Vernon of Hawarden who died there Friday September 30, in a five car pile up,(although police said he may died of a heart attack before the collision) were held Tuesday of last week at Zion Lutheran church in Garretson, SD., with burial in the church cemetery.

Mr. Vernon was born in Parker, SD., December 14, 1885. He married Lily Rudd in Sioux Falls, May 24, 1909. He was a car saleman in Worthington, Minn., Sioux Falls and Huron before moving to Minneapolis.

Witness of the accident said Mr. Vernon's car was traveling nearly 30 miles an hour when it slammed into the car ahead causing the pileup.

Survivors include the widow and three brother, B.T. Vernon of Minneapolis, Fred of Hawarden, and Robert of St. Petersburg, Fla., an extensive travler who is presently in Hawarden. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Vernon and their guests Mr. and Mrs.Robert Vernon attended the funeral.
