Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Orange City at 1:30 P.M., September 21 for Gerrit J. Van Es, 80, of Orange City, who died at the Orange City hospital September 18.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Raymond Van Heukelom and the Rev. Frank Snuttjer and burial was in the Newkirk Cemetery.

Mr. Van Es was born March 2, 1894, at Newkirk. He married Elizabeth Vander Maaten October 11, 1917, at Boyden. The couple farmed near Newkirk and moved to Orange City in 1957.

Survivors include the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Wilmina) Cleveringa of Orange City and two sons, Frank and John, both of Alton; 18 grandchildren and seven great grandchildlren; two brothers, John of Orange City and Jake of Heron Lake, Minn.
