Final Rites Held For Sam Kooima

Sam J. Kooima, 67, of Rock Valley, died at his home Saturday after a short illness. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p. m. Tuesday
at the First Christian Reformed church in Hock Valley. Rev. Leonard Van Drunen officiated and burial was in Valley View cemetery at Rock Valley.

Mr. Kooima was born September 22, 1899, at Rock Valley. He married Anna DeWit on February 20, 1920, at Kock Valley and the couple farmed in that area until two years ago when they moved to Rock Valley.

Mr. Kooima is survived by the widow; two sons, Jake of Rock Valley and John of Hull; four daughters, Mrs. Joe Gaalswyk of Rock Valley, Mrs. Tom Gaalswyk of Alvord, Iowa, Mrs. Otto Mans of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Clarence Velgersdyk of Minneapolis; three brothers, Tony, Gerrit and Ted all of Rock Valley; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Jacobsma of Rock Valley and Mrs. John Dekkers of Hawarden; 22 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
