Rites Held For Mrs. Bakeman
Funeral services for Mrs. Roberta Bakeman, 70, former Hawarden resident who died Wednesday at Grand Forks, N.D., after being hospitalized since September 30, were held at 2 O'clock Saturday in the Associated Church in Hawarden, Rev. William Sebring officiating. Burial was beside her husband in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bakeman had been visiting a daughter, Mrs. Archie Rosenberg, in Grand Forks before she was hospitalized.
Roberta MacLean was born in Black River Ridge, New brunswick, Canada, January 1, l892. She was educated in elementary and high schools there and attended college at Frederiction, N.B.
On July 19, l920, she married Frank W. Bakeman at Huron , S. D. They moved from Huron to Hawarden in l941. He was employed as a railway conductor and preceded her in death in l953 following which she made her home in Los Angeles.
In Hawarden she was a member of the Associated Church, P.E.O. Sisterhood and took an active part in different organizations.
Survivors include the daughter, Mrs. Rosenberg of Grand Forks, a son, Delbert C. Bakeman of Los Angeles, four broters, Frank, MacLean of Black River Ridge; John D. MacLean of Regina, Saskatchewan; Clifford MacLean of Hamilton, Ontario and James MacLean of Hopedale, Mass.; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Watling of Loggieville, N. B., and Grace Riddle of Los Angeles and two grandchildren of Grand Forks.
