WINNIE GREVENGOED
Mrs. Winnie Grevengoed, age 98, of Hull, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, March 2, at 11:00am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Paul Hansen will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. There will be a prayer service on Tuesday, at 10:00am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.
Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Monday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the funeral home.
Winnie was born on June 26, 1911, in rural Orange City, the daughter of Johannes and Anna (Baartman) Van Oort. She was raised mostly at Middleburg.
On January 4, 1933, she married Gerrit Grevengoed at Middleburg. They farmed in the Middlelburg area, where she was a homemaker. In 1974, they retired into Hull and spent many winters in the southern part of the United States, often in Arizona. Gerrit passed away on October 2, 1998, in Sioux Center.
In 2001, Mrs. Grevengoed became a resident of Pleasant Acres.
She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where she participated in the women's organizations. She enjoyed playing hymns on the organ, liked to crochet, and looked forward to having time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Darlene and Chuck P. Kroese, of Hull; three sons and their wives, John and Wilma Grevengoed and Howard and Marilyn Grevengoed, all of Hull; and Alvin and Eileen Grevengoed, of Clever, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, twelve great-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Wielenga, of Sioux Center.
All her other family members preceded her in death.
