JOHN SIDERIUS
ORANGE CITY. Iowa — John Siderius, 89. of Orange City died Tuesday. March 12, 2002, at Orange City Municipal Hospital.
Services will be 10 am. Friday at First Reformed Church in Boyden. Iowa. with the Rev. Matthew Draffen officiating. Burial will he in Sheridan Township Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
John was born Aug. 27, 1912, in Oudelye, The Netherlands, the son of Harmen and Tietje (DeVries) Siderius. He came to the United States at the age of one, and the family settled in North Dakota.
On Dec. 19, 1940, he married Evelyn Miedema in Ypsilanti, N.D. They made their home in Orange City. During World War II, John served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. In 1948, they moved to Boyden. In 1998, they returned to Orange City. Mrs Siderius passed away Dec. 21, 1998, in Sioux City.
For many years. Mr. Siderius sold Watkins products. He enoyed sports, especially bowling, fishing and hunting. He was a member of First Reformed Church of Boyden, where he
served on the consistory as an elder and deacon. He also belonged to the American Legion William Monster Post in Boyden.
Survivors include his three daughters and their husbands, Phyllis and John Rensink of Orange City, Faye and the Rev. Richard Koerselman of Gilbert, Ariz., and Beth and the Rev. Keith Geense of Sumner, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Dale; and a sister, Dorothy Lubbers.
