ALBERT K. TE VELDE
Mr. Albert Te Velde, age 56, of Maurice, passed away Friday, April 7, 2000 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 11, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. The Rev. Mark Haverdink officiated. Interment followed at Sherman Township Cemetery, near Maurice. The Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City was in charge of arrangements. Albert Kornelius was born October 21, 1943, at Brooten, Minnesota, the son of Lubbertus and Gertrude (Vos) Te Velde. He was raised at Brooten, where he graduated from high school.On July 26, 1963, he married VaLinda Jean Olson in Brooten. They made their home in Orange City where Al worked as a printer most of the time. From 1976 to 1984, they lived mostly in Minnesota. He then returned to Orange City, where he was employed by Hope Haven, primarily at their Residential Training Center.On November 30, 1985, he married Lynne Rae Krommendyk in Orange City. In 1987, they moved to Maurice. Mr. Te Velde was a member of the First Reformed Church in Maurice, where he and Lynne participated in a couples Bible study. In earlier years, he served as a cadet counselor at theFirst Christian Reformed Church in Orange City.Al enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, going to auctions and garage sales, and tinkering and repairing all sorts of things.Survivors include his wife; six children, Marcia Te Velde, and her soulmate, Marc Olson of Terrace, Minnesota; Michael Te Velde and his wife, Lisa of Hull; Rebecca and her husband, Scott Arvilla of New London, Minnesota; Tara and her husband, Douglas Huistein of Hull; and Abigail and Emily Te Velde, both at home; eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Robert, Cody, and Kayla Te Velde; Ashley, Tyler, and Aaron Hulstein; and Samantha Arvilla; and five sisters and two brothers, Berendina "Bernie" Ras of Muskegon, Michigan; Johanna "Joey" Hoogeterp of Sheldon; Bertha Smit of Ferndale, Washington; Gertrude Roth of of Brookfield, Wisconsin; Gerrit "John" Te Velde of Lynden, Washington; Elaine Grumbles of Tynes, Kentucky; and Conrad "Con" Te Velde of Everson, Washington.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herman "Herm" Te Velde.
