Florence Smit, 71, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Frank (Kate Granstra) De Jong passed away at the Sheldon Hospital on Thursday, July 30, 1987. She was born March 5, 1916 near Orange City IA. She was united in marriage to William Smit on Feb. 2, 1937 in Hospers, IA. They were in Produce and Feed business at Alton, janitors at Western Christin High and the Christian grade school in Orange City; dorm parents at Dordt College in Sioux Center, volunteer workers at Tempe, AZ and the last 7 years they were matrons at the Christian Retirement home.
Survivors include her husband, 3 daughters (Wilma)Mrs Bill Nibbelink Rock Valley, IA;(Karen) Mrs. John Anema Sanborn IA;(Darlene) Mrs. Jan Van Ee, Merida Mexico;1 son, Ron of Sheldon IA. Two sisters (Winnie) Mrs Joe Smit
(Alice) Mrs. Henry Kreykes, Sheldon, IA and 20 grandchildren and 3 great grand children.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother.
