ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Peter Donald Mouw, 78, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Orange City, died Saturday, March 25, 2000. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Jonathan Opgenorth officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Alvord, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. IA. Mr. Mouw was born Aug. 24, 1921, in rural Orange City, the son of John M. and Dora (Van Meeteren) Mouw. He was raised in Middleburg, Iowa, and served in the US Army during World War II. He married Irma M. Dengler on Feb. 26, 1950, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in Middleburg until 1953, when they moved to Orange City. He was employed as a carpenter. In 1957, he went into business for himself as Don Mouw Construction. He completed many buildings in Orange City, including the windmill office of Northwestern State Bank.He retired in 1976 and they began wintering in Florida. In 1989, he moved to Boca Raton, Fla.. He lived in Sioux Falls, S.D. during 1994, and returned to Florida in 1995, settling in New Port Richey. He enterd Forest Glen Assisted Living Center in 1999. He was a member of American Legion Pressman-Kosters Post in Orange City. He enjoyed singing and participated in 20 Tulip festival musicals in Orange City. Survivors include two daughter, Kathleen McClendon of Sioux City and Laurel Lundy of Sioux Falls; three grandchildren, Maththew and Theresa McClendon, and David Lundy; a great-grandaughter; two brothers and their wives, Morris and Wilma of Sheldon, Iowa, and Walace and Selma Jean of Sioux Center, Iowa; two sisters, Jeanette and her husband, William Doppenburg, and Pauline Vander Zwaag, all of Orange City: and his former wife of Orange City. He was perceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Jurry Vander Zwaag.
