Verne McKenney, 79, of Inwood died Friday, April 15, after a long illness at a Luverne, Minnesota, hospital.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 18, in he Bethel United Methodist Church in Inwood. The Rev. Richard Pippert officiated. Burial was in Richland Cemetery at Inwood. Visitation was from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at the Porter Funeral Home.

Mr. McKenney was born on November 18, 1903, at rural Rock Valley. He married Dorothy Kock on January 30, 1930 at Canton, South Dakota. They farmed in the rural Rock Valley area until 1941, and farmed in rural Inwood until they retired in 1968, when they moved into town.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Norman of Brandon, South Dakota, Kenneth and Glen, both of Larchwood, and Larry of Inwood; a brother, Emmett of Newcastle, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
