Harry Vander Pol, 86, of Newkirk died Saturday at an Orange City hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services were held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday at Newkirk Reformed Church. The Rev. Clarence Van Heukelom officiated. Burial was in the Newkirk Cemetery under direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.

Mr. Vander Pol was born March 8, 1891, in rural Alton. He married Johanna Oolbekking Jan. 17, 1917, in Newkirk. They farmed north of Newkirk. Mr. Vander Pol lived at Heritage House in Orange City the last three years.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Gertrude) De Graaf of Newkirk; two sons, Harvey and Arthur, both of Newkirk; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Albert (Grace) Hoffs of Sheldon and Mrs. Ralph (Bertha) Erkes of Sheldon, and two brothers, Dowie of Alton and Mike of Primghar.
