Peter Schouten Sr., 68, of Sioux Center died Wednesday at Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. John Piersma officiated. Burial was in the Memory Gardens Cemetery, with the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Schouten was born October 21, 1909, in the Netherlands., He came to the United States at age 9. He married Celia Blankespoor October 8, 1931, at Rock Valley. He was a veteran of W.W.II.

He was in the hardware business in Sioux Center for 28 years and retired in 1972.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Bob and Peter Jr., and four daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Sally) Kreuger, Mrs. Gerald (Toots) Harskamp, Mrs. Keith (Mary) Bonnema, and Mrs. Mark (Carol) Bandstra, all of Sioux Center; 18 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; three brothers, Neal of Hawarden, Henry of Boyden, and Melvin of Sioux Center; and two sisters, Mrs. Adrian (Margaret) De Bie of Ontario, California and Mrs. Gerald (Kathern) Mouw of Sioux Center.
