Services for Ruth Seeman, 66, of Grundy Center, Iowa, who died Friday, March 10, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, were held on Tuesday morning, March 14, 1989, at the Salem Federated Church, Lincoln, Iowa. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery of rural Gladbrook, Iowa, under the direction of the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home.
She was born November 21, 1922, near Beaman to H. (Theo) and Hilda Wegner Henningsen. She graduated from Beaman High School and attended AIB in Des Moines.
On August 18, 1946, she married Douglas W. Seeman in Lincoln. They farmed near Beaman and later retired to Grundy Center.
She was a member of the Salem Federated Church, Living Branches Ladies Aid, Beaman Am vets Auxiliary, Beaman Rebekah Lodge, Grundy Center Garden Club, Past President of the Grundy County Farm Bureau Women’s Club. She was also past state president and secretary of the Iowa Am vets Auxiliary and had volunteered nearly 2,000 hours at the Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas, her mother, Hilda Henningsen of Grundy Center; a daughter, Cynde (Mrs. Gene) Calkins of Western Grove, Arkansas; two sons, John of Los Altos, California, and James of rural Beaman, seven grandchildren, a brother, Donald H. Henningsen of rural Beaman; two aunts, Emma Eilts of Ireton, Iowa and Irene Wegner of Hawarden , Iowa, an uncle, Will Wegner of Hudson, South Dakota, and many other area relatives.
