ORANGE CITY--Mrs. Gerrit J. Van Es, 83, Orange City, died Tuesday at a nursing home here of long illness.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the First Reformed Church. The Rev. Raymond Van Heukelom and the Rev. Frank Snuittjer officiated. Burial was in the Newkirk cemetery under direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home.
Mrs. Van Es, the former Elizabeth Vander Maaten, was born Dec. 12, 1893 in the Netherlands. She came to Boyden in 1900 with her parents. She was married Oct. 11,1917 at Boyden. The couple farmed northeast of Orange City until 1958 when they moved to town. Mr. Van Es died in September of 1974. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Wilmina)Cleveringa of Orange City; two sons Frank and John, both of Alton; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Louis (Stella) DeHaan of Orange City.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 28, at the First Reformed Church of Orange City, where Mrs. Van Es was a member. Officiating were the Rev. Dr. Raymond R. Van Heukelom, the Rev. Perry Raak, and the Rev. Frank Snuttjer. Interment was at the Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
In addition to her husband she was preceeded in death by two sons, two sisters and two brothers. She died at the Heritage House in Orange City, where she had been a resident for a few months. She was born in The Netherlands.
