Death Claims Old Resident
Mrs. L. M. Meeter passed away last Friday morning.
Was 68 years of age and Had lived in Hawarden 42 years.
Mrs. L. M. Meeter, for forty-five years a resident of Hawarden, passed away at her home in this city at 9:45 lat Friday morning following a lingering illness from complication of diseases. She had been in failing health since two years ago last spring and was bedfast for five weeks preceding her death.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the family home, conducted by Rev. James S. Smith, pastor of the Associated church. Interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery.
Harriet Jane Williams was born in CamBorne, Cornwall England, March 20, 1961, and departed this life Nov 8, 1929, at the age of 68 years, 7 months and 18 days. At the age of 12 years she went with her parents to South America, and ten years later came to Elizabeth IL, where on Christmas Day 1884, she was untied in marriage with Lewis M. Meeter, In 1887 she accompined Mr. Meeter to Hawarden and their home has ever since been in this city. Seven Children were born to this union, two of whom, Herbert Charles, and Lewis Earl, preceded her in death. The children, who with her husband survive her, are Floence Lewis, Effie Templeton and Aurilla Meeter of hawarden, Gordon L. Meeter of Waterloo, and Laurence student at U. of Iowa in Iowa City. In addition she leaves five granchildren. The five are mentioned in the obit as well as a paragraph about the attributes of Mrs. Meeter. (A full obit can be had by contacting the submitter.
