Joseph Pierce died at his home in Sioux City on Wednesday August 12th from stomach trouble. He had reached the age of sixty-six years. Joseph Pierce was the husband of Miss Carrie Gleysteen who passed away a few ywars ago. The body of Mr. Pierce was brought to Alton on this Friday and he was laid to rest in the Nassau township cemetery by the side of his wife. Deceased is survived by two children - Mrs. A. E. Cropley and R. J. Pierce, both of Sioux City. Two brothers and one sister also vurvive. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Cropley, R. J. Pierce, Mrs. E. A. Burgess (or Burgens?) and Mrs. R. F. Fry, all of Sioux City, were here on Friday to attend the funeral services.

Joseph and wife Carrie Gleysteen 1857-1908, and son Richard G./J. are all buried in the family plot in Nassau Tsp cemtery Alton IA.
