Alton Democrat of Dec 12, 1914.
(As close as I can calculate, R. G. Richard Pierce died on Wednesday before the paper issue. He would have died the first week in December)

R. G. Pierce, whose home is in Sioux City and who was employed by a Des Moines bridge concern as foreman, recently had his foot crushed in an accident. Amputation of the leg became neccessary which operation was performed in a Des Moines hospital. Later complications set in which caused his death on Wednesday. Deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pierce, former Alton residents. The remains were brought to Alton for burial on Friday and were interred in the Pierce family lot in Nassau township cmemtery. Deceased is survived by one sister, Mrs. Albert Cropley of Sioux City. Deceased's mother was the daughter (Carrie) of Mr. and Mrs. Dirk Gleysteen.
[Three members of the Joseph Pierce family are buried in Nassau Tsp, Cemeter Alton IA.
Joseph (father) 1848-1914 Carrie (Mother) 1857-1908 and Richard (son) 1879-1914]
