Tim Rens, 87, of Orange City died Friday at an Orange City nursing home after a lengthy illness.

Services were at 10:30 Tuesday at the First Reformed Church, Orange City. Dr. Raymond Van Heukelom and the Rev. Perry Raak officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City, under direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Mr. Rens was born March 20, 1891, in rural Orange City He married Elizabeth Huisman February 28, 1917, in Orange City. The couple farmed northwest of Orange City until 1952 when they retired and moved to town.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City.

Survivors include the widow: three daughters, Mrs. Hermina Vande Brake of Sioux Center, Mrs. Vernon (Helene) Masper of Artesia, California, and Mrs. Virgil (Lois) De Vries of Lakewood, California; Three sons, William of Orange City, John of Artesia and Gerald “Bing” of Escondido, California; four sisters, Mrs. Jake (Ella) Vande Griend of Orange City, Mrs. Marinus (Jennie) Vande Griend and Mrs. Dick (Hermina) Blyenberg, both of Sioux City and Mrs. Jack (Jeanette) Middendorp of Denver, Colorado; three brothers Gerrit and Richard, both of Sioux Center, and Bert of Sheldon; 18 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
