Sena Vreeman, age 97, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at the Rock Rapids Care Centre in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
Memorial Service will be Monday, November 2, 2009. at 2:00 P.M. at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, Iowa. Rev. Kevin Muyskens officiating.
Graveside Service at 1:00 P.M. Monday, at the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 1, 2009, from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M. with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.
Sena Vreeman was born on October 3, 1912, in Sioux Center, Iowa, where she lived her youth and attended school. She was the daughter of Hendrik Willem and Dina (Voortman) Rensink.
She was united in marriage to William G. Vreeman of Sioux Center, Iowa, on June 19, 1933, in Sioux Center. They lived in Sioux Center, Hawarden, and Sheldon, Iowa, where Sena was a very busy farm wife. William passed away on February 27, 1993.
Sena was a charter member of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, where she attended Bible Studies.
She enjoyed living at the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon and volunteering at Oak Park Care Center, until she was into her 90’s.
Sena enjoyed spending time collecting antique pictures and newspaper clippings, cooking and baking. She will be remembered as a sweet, soft-spoken person, of few words, and a very loving mother and grandmother, who always had the coffee pot on.
She passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at the Rock Rapids Care Centre in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
Those left to cherish her memories are three daughters and sons-in-law: Delores and Harvey De Boer of Orange City, IA, Christine and Ken Peters of Sheldon, IA, Marlene and Harley Bowers of Rock Rapids, IA; 30 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren: 24 great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law: Linda (Jerry) Van’t Hul of Sheldon, IA and Ruby Vreeman of Sibley, IA; one sister-in-law: Madeline Fedders of Sioux Center, IA; special friend: Jennie Jansma, and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband William G.; three sons: Gerrit Vreeman, Howard Vreeman, and Kenneth Vreeman; daughter-in-law: Mrs. Alvin (Trudy) Feenstra; one sister: Rena Remmerde; three brothers: Gerrit, Marinus, and Bill.
