Miss Margaret Tiemersma, age 88, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009, at the Orange City Area Health System Hospital.
There will be a funeral service on Friday, October 30, at 10:00am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. Pastor Bryan Dick will officiate. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 3:00pm on Thursday at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
Margaret was born on November 15, 1920, in Orange City, the daughter of Dick and Anna (Vander Kooi) Tiemersma. She was raised at Orange City, where she attended the Northwestern Classical Academy and Junior College.
She became a secretary and was employed at the Sioux Abstract Company in Orange City from 1950 to 1988.
In 2001, Miss Tiemersma became a resident of the Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community, and in 2006, she transferred to the Heritage House Nursing Home, both in Orange City.
She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, which she faithfully attended. She served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and was also a church librarian.
She enjoyed gardening and stamp collecting and walked all around the community.
Survivors include distant relatives, such as cousins, some in The Netherlands.
