HOSPERS__Craig Steven Walgenbach, 55, Hospers, died Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Services were Saturday, Aug. 8, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hospers, with the Revs. Richard Ball and Thomas Hart, and Mon Signor Kenneth Seifried officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery, under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home Remsen.
Craig Walgenbach son of Roland and Alida (Hess) Wa1genbach, was born Sept. 27, 1953, in Orange City. He was raised on a dairy farm in Hospers and graduated from Spalding Catholic High School in Granvjlle in 1971. He then worked at Hospers Packing House until he took over the family farm.
He met Arlene Koerselman in Sheldon, and they married Oct. 6, 1973. They raised three boys and continued to grow the family farm.
He loved the farm and spending time hunting and fishing with his sons, also educating his grandchildren to appreciate the farm life. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hospers.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene Walgenbach of Hospers; three sons, Marty Walgenbach and his special friend, Jennifer Wettergren and her son, Wyatt, of Mankato, MN, Jake and Joel Walgenhach of Granville, and Wayne and Sarah Walgenbach of Eagle Lake, MN; three grandchildren; his mother, Alida Walgenbach of Hospers; a brother, David Walgenbach of Sauk Centre, MN; two sisters, Sister Mary David Walgenbach of Madison, WI, and Rileen Walgenbach of Bemidji. MN; a sister-in-law, Mary Walgenbach of El Paso, TX; and an uncle, Gil and Ann Hess of Crescent City, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Walgenbach; a brother, Danny Walgenbach; a sister-in-law, Colleen Walgenbach; and his father-in-law, Herman W Koerselman.
