M. T. Oliver (sic-Olivier)

Mr. M. Tice Oliver (sic) was born August 19, 1862. He spent the earlier days of his life at Atley, Ia. near Pella. In his early twenties he was united in marriage to Miss Carolyn (sic-Caroline) Trigg. To this union 9 children were born, 3 dying in infancy and two boys, George and Ira (sic-Arie) passed away in their youth, a daughter Irene, Mrs. Carl Grinyer of Early passed away 14 years ago. The mother passed away when all the children were young and the home broken up and the children lived with their grandmother Oliver (sic) and their uncles and aunts. Mr. Oliver (sic) resided with his mother most of the time after the loss of his wife until she passed away and the later years of his life he spent with his children making his permanent home with his daughter Mrs. Ralph Vander Schaaf.

On Monday Oct. 20, 1941 he suffered a stroke and failed to rally due to a weak heart and passed away on Thursday evening at the Vander Schaaf home at Beaver Creek, Minn. The funeral was held in the home there on Monday Oct. 17 at 12 o'clock with Rev. R. A. Jager of the American Reformed church of Hull officiating and in the First Reformed church in Hull at 2 o'clock with Rev. G. H. Douwstra officiating. Interment was in the Hope cemetery.

He is survived by two sons, John of Lester, William of Hull and a daughter, Nell, Mrs. Ralph Vander Schaaf of Beaver Creek and 16 grandchildren and a brother, Art Oliver (sic) of Hull.
