Jack Oliver Dies Tuesday Night of Heart Ailment

Funeral services will be held at Central Reformed church here at 10:30 a.m. Friday for Jack Oliver, 43, lifelong resident of Sioux Center, who died unexpectedly at his home here Monday night of a heart ailment.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. Albert Ten Clay and burial will be made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Jack had suffered from a heart ailment for several years, and in recent months had slept in a chair. He apparently died in his sleep about midnight in his chair, and was found there about 2:45 a.m. by his wife, who was aroused from her sleep by the TV set, which had been left on.

Jack had worked since August of this year as a Development representative of Hope Haven School for the Handicapped at Rock Valley, and prior to that had been employed for several years as a sales manager by Harris Janitor Supply of Sioux City. Prior to going to work for Harris he served for several years as a custodian at the public high school here. Jack graduated from the local high school in 1943.

Survivors besides his parents include his wife, Louise (the former Louise Franken); seven children, Linda, 21, (Mrs. Lyle Vander Vliet) of Sioux Center; Wanda, 19, Jon, 15, Jeffrey, 13, James, 10, Jay, 7, and Jacqueline, 4; five sisters, Kathleen (Mrs. Duane Gage) of Lester, Vivian (Mrs. Harold Ageson) of Lester, Ruth (Mrs. Ceel Vanden Brink) of East Lansing, Mich., Phyllis (Mrs. John Zeutenhorst) of Orange City, Shirley (Mrs. Lorenz Mouw) of Orange City; a brother Roger, of Rock Rapids; and a grandson, Loren Vander Vliet, of Sioux Center. He was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia (Mrs. Henrich Kraayenbrink) of Sioux Center, who died in 1966.

Jack was a member of the Sioux Center Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was a veteran of World War II. He was active in the local American Legion Post.

John M. Oliver Services To Be Held This Friday

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 28 at 10:30 a. m. in the Central Reformed church in Sioux center for John (Jack) M. Oliver. 43, of Sioux Center. The Rev. Albert H. Ten Clay will officiate at the services.

Mr. Oliver died at his home on Tuesday, November 25, suffering an apparent heart attack.

Jack Oliver was born February 9, 1926 in Sioux Center. He married Louise Franken on June 26, 1947. Prior to coming to Hope Haven in August as Development representative, he was a sales manager for Harris Janitor Supply of Sioux City.

Survivors are his widow, Louise, four sons, John Michael, Jeff, Jim and Jay at home; three daughters, Mrs. Lyle Van Der Vliet of Sioux Center, Wanda of Glenwood and Jaci at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Oliver of Sioux Center, one brother, Roger of Rock Rapids, five sisters, Mrs. Duane Gage, Mrs. Harold Ageson, of Lester, Mrs. Ceel Vanden Brink of East Lansing, Mich., Mrs. John Zeutenhorst and Mrs. Lorenz of Orange city, one grandchild.
