Asa Olivier

June 25, 1910-March 18, 1994

Asa Olivier, 83, of Sioux Center, died Friday, March 18 at Sioux Center Community Hospital. Services were at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center on Monday, March 21, with the Rev. Carl Boersma officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Olivier was born in Hull on June 15, 1910, the son of Arthur William and Fannie (Wiersma) Olivier. He served in World War II, and was actively involved in the American Legion. He then did janitorial work for many years.

He was married to Fannie Van Essen and they had two sons, Lowell Asa and Roger Delroy. After her death, he was married to Alyda Van Der Weide on April 17, 1964. They had a daughter, Loretta Faye. Olivier enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors are his wife, Alyda; one son and his wife, Lowell Asa and Bonnie Olivier, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; one daughter, Loretta Faye Lo, of Sioux Center; four grandchildren, Christina Louise Olivier, Brian Ray Olivier, Bonita Louise Lo and Sabrina Marie Lo; two sisters, Ann Harsma, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Wilma Duits, of Sioux Center; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Fannie; a son, Roger Delroy; a sister, Nellie Scholten; and two brothers, Arie P. Olivier and Arend N. Olivier.
