Gertrude was the daughter of Harrit Boonstra and Pietje(Postma)Boonstra. Born August 13, 1897, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Funeral service October 26, 1979 at Calvary Christian Reformed Church, Orange City, IA. She came to the United States with her parents in 1907. They settled at Orange City.
On October 4, 1921, she married Chester Otis Van Peursem at Orange City. They farmed near Maurice until 1950, when they moved to Orange City. Earlier this year, they became residents of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City.
Mrs. Van Peursem passed away at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.(Interment at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, IA.)
She was a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church and its Harmony Workers. Mrs. Van Peursem also belonged to Barracks 1628 of the World War I Auxiliary.
Surviviors include her husband, Chester; daughter, Mrs. Arthur H.(Helen M.)Kalsbeek, of Orange City; two sons, Howard of Crystal Lake, Illinois, and David of Orange City, IA; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sister, Dick and Gerard Boonstra, Antonie Faber, and Elizabeth De Groot.
