A Friend Passes Away

John R. Van Pelt

John R. Van Pelt, age 72, of Alton, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon shortly after being admitted to the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church of Alton with Rev. Raymond Weiss officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens near LeMars.

Reviewal will be at Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home, Orange City, on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m., with visitation from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mr. Van Pelt is survived by his wife, Grace (Heemstra); one daughter, Betty Hallstrom of Greeley, Colorado; 3 grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Evelyn Van Pelt and Esther Cullen of Glendale, California.
