Well Known Young People United in Marriage

Alton Democrat: A very pretty wedding occurred at St. Mary’s church on Wednesday morning, June 17th, when two of our well known young people, Miss Ida Sauer and Louis Lieb, were married. Rev. Luehrsman, of Breda, Iowa, grand uncle of the groom, performed the ceremony. He also performed the ceremony of the bride’s and groom’s parents twenty-six years ago. The prenuptial mass was celebrated by Very Rev. F. J. Brune.

The bride was attired in a handsome white satin gown trimmed with shadow lace and pearls, and a tulle veil ornamented with aigrettes and pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of bridal roses and lilies of the valley. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Minnie, who was attired in a light blue chiffon taffeta gown and a leghorn hat trimmed with French blue ribbon.

The groomsman was Albert Lieb. After the ceremony a reception was given at the home of the bride’s mother to the relatives and intimate friends, where they were seated at a long table and were served a sumptuous four-course dinner. The home was prettily decorated with roses, ferns, smilax and carnations. The bride and groom received many beautiful and costly wedding presents.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lieb left on the evening train for a pleasure trip to Colorado. After their return they will be at home to their friends on the Lieb farm south of Alton.

Sauer, of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sauer and daughter, Alvina, of Waterloo; Will Lieb and daughter, Miss Tesse, of Pocahontas; Louis Lieb, Mrs. M. Sauer, Mrs. C. Schutts, Mrs. C. Schnepp, Messrs.
