Mark Golden wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mellies, formerly of Sioux Center and now residents of Redlands, Calif.. celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary recently. Their two sons and their wives hosted the event.

Mr. Mellies is originally from Ireton, and Mrs. Mellies. the former Lena Van Hunnik, was born and raised in Sioux Center. Married in 1926, the couple lived in Sioux Center for a year before moving to California.

Mr. and Mrs. Bud Mellies and Mr. and Mrs. William Mellies, all from Redlands, Calif., planned the affair. Guests included Mrs. Fred Mellies' brother, Harry Van Hunnink and his wife and family from Anaheim, and her four sisters, Mrs. John Vander Mey, husband and family, from Bellflower, Mrs. Frank Diugi. of Bellflower, Mrs. Wilma Bomgaars and family from Artesia, and Mrs. Clyde Kilgore and family of Whittier.

Grandchildren present were Jamie Louise Mellies, Mrs. John Ward, David Mellies from Washington, and Scotty Mellies of Redlands. The Mellies were married in Sioux City, Nov. 13, 1926. Fred retired in 1967, having served as an equipment engineer for the Veager Construction Company of Riverside. Calif.

The Mellies are both members of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
