Lutje Achterhof was born in the Netherlands in 1865 and he died on July 1, 1946. He was 17 years old when he came to the United States. He married Jane Schooneveld on March 1, 1888.

Jane Schooneveld was born in Obereisel, the Netherlands, on December 24, 1866. The couple farmed in the Sioux Center area for many years. They were involved with their church and Lutje served on their church board. They were the parents of six children.

Ann Achterhof was born May 9, 1889 at Orange City, Iowa. She died on May 2, 1941. On February 1, 1911 she married John Bartels. They had four children: Grace, Louis, Peter and Jane.

Louis Achterhof was born December 26, 1892 at Sioux Center , Iowa. He died January 24, 1966. He married Johanna Kraayenbrink on March 11, 1919. They had five children: James, Aldine, Lucille, Wilma and Bertha.

Maggie Achterhof was born in May, 1896 in Sioux Center and she died on May 4, 1965. She married Albert Mulder in Sioux Center, Iowa. They had seven children: Fannie, Louis, Peter, Jennie, Pearl, Roy and Lucy.

Ralph Achterhof was born on November 25, 1891 at Sioux Center, Iowa and he died on November 18, 1957. He married Maggie Van Kley at Sioux Center in December 1913. They had four children: Lawrence, Florence, Floyd and Eugene.

Clara Achterhof was born on June 4, 1898 at Sioux Center, Iowa and she died on November 1, 1985. She married William Van Kley on June 4, 1917. They had four children: Pearl, Jeanette, Floyd and Leroy.

Bert Achterhof was born January 14, 1902 and Sioux Center, Iowa and he died September 6, 1955. He married Nellie Kosters in Sioux Center, Iowa. They had two children: Wilbur and Jeanette.
