Milestones are always interesting. One of these is being observed this year by Mrs. Gale Bergsma at Ireton who on August 17, 30 years ago, began writing for the Le Mars Globe-Post, and is still a weekly contributor.

Her news covers events at Ireton, and is widely read. Mrs. Bergsma, nee Minnie Hermina Luikens, was born in Le Mars, the daughter of the late Lucas Luikens and Johanna E. Hoorneman, She and the "Boy Next Door," G. Bergsma were married there in 1910.

With them to their new home in Sioux County went the Le Mars Globe-Post "second-hand" and soon it occurred to her that news from southern Sioux County might be accepted by a paper whose popularity was steadily growing in Sioux County.

Their acceptance letter is still carefully preserved in Mrs. Bergsma's family scrap book and the writing has continued through the years. The Bergsma family tree now consists of four children, 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and all read the Globe-Post.
