John Konz was born July 7, 1861 at Machrum, Luxemburg. He married Cecilia Plathe on January 29, 1900. Cecilia was born April 30, 1880 at New Vienna, Iowa. John died on December 11, 1938 and Cecilia died on March 2, 1963 at Granville. To this union eleven children were born:

Anna was born August 7, 1901 at Granville. died 15 Apr 2001 Le Mars, IA. She married Cornelius Wolf on February 9, 1926. Cornelius was born March 19, 1902 at Alton and died May 7, 1975 at Remsen.
Peter was born on February 22, 1903 at Granville and died on July 10, 1981. He married Callista Schiltz on January 29, 1935, Callista was born on July 19 1911 at Remsen.
Rose was born April 4, 1905 at Granville. died Feb 2, 1996 Le Mars IA She married Joseph Holton on January 13, 1936. Joseph was born August 30, 1906 at Oyens, Iowa.
Martha was born February 18, 1907 at Granville, died 13 Apr 2005 Le Mars, IA and married Lloyd Kriege on January 24, 1918. Lloyd was born July 19, 1912 and died May 5, 1965 at Remsen.  
Elizabeth was born February 26, 1909 at Granville died 1988 and married Patrick Thier on May 21, 1929. Patrick was born on March 17, 1907 at Lismore Minnesota and died May 17, 1985 at Remsen, Iowa.
Bernard Joseph was born March 22, 1911 at Granville, he died 5 Sep 1987 Trimont, Martin MN. and married Mary Wilhelmi on Febraury 20, 1939. Mary was born Mary 14, 1916 at Jackson, Minnesota.
George Peter was born July 25, 1913 at Granville and died on February 17, 1981 New Ulm MN. He married Mary
Anna Gasper on June 11, 1940. Mary was born November 30, 1919 at Orient, South Dakota.
Sylvester was born October 26, 1916 and died November 15, 1957 at Granville.
Albert was born December 17, 1918 at Granville and died March 9, 1929 at Granville.
Robert was born April 6, 1921 at Granville and married Dorothy Delperdang on June 18, 1946. Dorothy was born October 22, 1925 at Le Mars, Iowa.
Raymond was born February 23, 1924 at Granville and died Apr 6, 1964 at Granville , He narrued Monica September 25m 1946. Monica was born on February 16, 1924 at Siouox City and died on September 22, 1974 at Remsen. Iowa.

Cecelia and John Konz were married 29 Jan 1900 at Granville IA Cecelia was the daughter of Herman Engelbert Plathe born 31 Jan 1850 New Vienna IA died 18 Dec 1941 Granville IA and Anna Mary Niggeling born 4 Sep 1860 Dyersville, Delaware IA and died 7 Dec 1944 Granville, IA. John Konz and Cecelia Plathe had the following children.

Cornelius was born March 19, 1902 at Alton and died at Remsen. They farmed by Remsen. Two sons Emmet and Mary of Cleghorn, Alvin and Mary of Henderson NV five daughters Mrs. Dorothy Richard Kunkel, Helen Mrs. Charles Bidinian, Delores Mrs. Clayton Bohlke, Carol Mrs. Dale Harris, Jeanette Mrs. John Goodwin. 2. Peter Herman Konz was born on February 22, 1903 at Granville and died on July 10, 1981. He married Callista Schiltz on January 29, 1935, Callista was born on July 19 1911 at Remsen. He was a long time farmer. Children - three sons, Donald of Remsen, Duane of Rittsfield, Mass., and Jerome of Le Mars; a daughter, Mary Jane Burke of Remsen. Per Find A Grave.

3. Rose Susanna Konz was born April 4, 1905 at Granville. Died Feb 2, 1996 LeMars IA She married Joseph Holton on January 13, 1936. Joseph was born August 30, 1906 at Oyens, Iowa. 4. Martha Mary Konz was born February 18, 1907 at Granville, died 13 Apr 2005 Le Mars, IA and married Lloyd Kriege on January 24, 1918. Lloyd was born July 19, 1912 and died May 5, 1965 at Remsen.  Children - three daughters and their husbands, Mary Ann and Keith McClain of Luther, Mont., Charleene and Stan Stigge of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and Doris and Jim Krogman of Remsen; five sons and wives, Richard and Sherron, Robert and Jo Ann, all of Skiatook, Okla., Louis and Karen of Iowa City, Iowa, Charles of Remsen and James and Carol of Longmont, Colo. 5. Elizabeth Konz was born February 26, 1909 at Granville died 1988 and married Patrick Thier on May 21, 1929. Patrick was born on March 17, 1907 at Lismore Minnesota and died May 17, 1985 at Remsen, Iowa. Later she was Mrs Volburga 1909 – 1988. Patrick’s Find a Grave has his obit and that he had four daughters but not named.

6. Bernard Joseph Konz was born March 22, 1911 at Granville, he died 5 Sep 1987 Trimont, Martin MN. and married Mary Wilhelmi on February 20, 1939. Mary was born Mary 14, 1916 at Jackson, Minnesota. Since children not listed on Find A Grave indicates they are private because not deceased yet.. Possibly four -five children.

7. George Peter Konz was born July 25, 1913 at Granville and died on February 17, 1981 New Ulm MN . He married Mary Anna Gasper on June 11, 1940. Mary was born November 30, 1919 at Orient, South Dakota. Children – Donald Raymond Konz 1957-2012, Teresa Leona Konz 1959-1979. Per Find A Grave.

8. Sylvester Peter Konz was born 26 Oct 1916 Granville IA and died 15 Nov1957 buried Granville He assisted his parents on the farm, he did not marry. See his obituary is on this web page.

10, Robert John Konz was born 6 Apr1921 at Granville died 4 Dec 2014 LeMars IA and married Dorothy Delperdang on June 18, 1946. Dorothy was born October 22, 1925 at Le Mars, Iowa. Monica was born on February 16, 1924 at Sioux City and died on September 22, 1974 at Remsen. Iowa. JOHN KONZ, PIONEER SETTLER, PASSES ON
John Konz, pioneer resident of Granville died at his home Saturday, December 10th. He had been in poor health for a year following a stroke. Mr. Konz was born in Luxemburg, July 7, 1861 and came to the United States with his parents at the age of four years. His parents, Mathias and Margareth (Everling) Konz, were one of the eighteen families that traveled three weeks in a caravan of covered wagons drawn by oxen to reach Sioux County, where they established homes in May 1870.
Mr. Konz was married in 1880 to Anna Traelvaler, who died in June 1890. On January 20th, 1901 he married Celia Plathe of Granville. Eleven children were born to the union. Surviving are his wife and ten children: Mrs. Cornelius Wolf (Anna); Mrs. Joe Holten (Rose); Mrs. Lloyd Krieze (Martha) of Remsen; Mrs. Pat Their (Elizabeth) of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; Peter, Bernard, Sylvester, Robert and Raymond, all at home. Albert died five years at the age of ten years. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Susan Hansen of Alton and Mrs. Andy Noethe of Sutherland, one brother, Nic Konz and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s Church Tuesday, the Reverend Gerleman officiating. Pallbearers were Peter Klein, Felix Streff, William Rohlke, Nic Haupert, Severt Raveling, Ray Pertz.

RITES AT GRANVILLE FOR MRS. JOHN KONZ Mrs. John Konz, 82, a long time resident of the Granville area, died suddenly at home Saturday evening of a heart attack.
Mrs. Konz, the former Celia Plathe, was born April 30, 1880, at New Vienna, Iowa and moved to a farm south of here as a young girl. She was married to John Konz on June 29, 1901, and lived on the farm since then. He preceded her in death in 1938.
Funeral services were at 10 A.M. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Holton of Le Mars, Iowa, Mrs. Cornelius Wolf and Mrs. Lloyd Kreige, both of Remsen, Iowa and Mrs. Pat Their of Phoenix, Arizona; five sons, Peter of Alton, Iowa, George of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, Bernard of Salix, Iowa, Raymond of Granville and Robert of Oyens, Iowa; 61 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
