Herman Hagge was born Dec. 17, 1883 at Lowden, Ia. In 1910 he was married to Mary Zimmerman, daughter of R.A. and Gerta Garrels Zimmerman. They were the parents of 2 daughters: Neldred, married Cornie Vander Mei; and Leona married Earl Brandt.
Herman and Mary Zimmerman lived on a farm 4½ miles north of Ireton from 1910 to 1934 when they moved into Ireton. Their daughter Neldred Vander Mei still lives on this same farm.
Herman died in 1964 and Mary in 1946. Both are buried in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Ireton.
Neldred Hagge was married to Cornie Vander Mei in 1934. They had one daughter, Beulah. Cornie died as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident in 1969. He is buried at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Ireton. Neldred and Beulah still reside on the Hagge farm north of Ireton and spend their winters in Texas.
Leona Hagge married Earl Brandt of Hartley, Ia. In 1947. They reside on a farm west of Ireton. They are the parents of 5 children: Edward, married Eileen Olson of Groton, S.D., now resides in Orange City; Martin, married Debra Larson of Alda, Nb, died drowning in Guam, now married to Yasuko Swanson and lives at Imperial Beach, Ca.; David married Bridget Butzer of Mankato, Mn.; Mary LPN at McKennan Hosp. Sioux Falls; and Arlene attending college at Brookings, S.D.

OBITUARY OF HERMAN HAGGE
Funeral services for Herman Hagge,80, who died in the Hawarden hospital last Thursday were conducted Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Ireton by Rev. O.F.Pittack, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church of Hawarden Interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton with the Barnard Funeral home in charge.
Mr. Hagge, the youngest and only survivor of eight children born to Claus Hagge and his wife Margaret, nee Grill, was born at Lowden, Iowa., December 17, 1883. When he was two years of age his mother died and later, he accompanied his father to Sheldon before coming to Sioux county to reside on a farm northeast of Ireton. Here he was engaged mostly in farming as a hired man. For several years he also lived in Sioux City where he took care of his father, who had become a familiar wheelchair resident of that city during the last two years of his life.
Mr. Hagge had held the position of township trustee, school director and secretary of the Ireton Co-op association for 25 years. On March 16, 1910, he married Mary Zimmerman of Ireton with Rev. Hugo Schwenk, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, performing the ceremony. During the next 26 years he was engaged in farming and retired to Ireton in 1936.Ten years later, on June 5, 1946 his wife died. During the past year Mr. Hagge had been in and out of the hospital several times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary, two brothers, John and Henry Hagge and five sisters, Mathilda Hillmer. Mary Husman, Minnie Pereboom, Emma Bertram and Sophie Kirby.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Cornie (Mildred) Vander Mei and Mrs. Earl (Leona)Brandt, and six grandchildren, all of Ireton.

Mrs. Herman Hagge dies At Ireton
Marie Zimmerman Hagge was born Sept. 8, 1885 in Ireton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Richard A. and Gertrude Garrels Zimmerman. On December 25, 1885 she was baptized in St. Paul's Lutheran church by Rev. Buenger. She was confirmed on Palm Sunday, 1900 by Rev. Grimm.
On March 16, 1910 she was married. to Herman Hagge in Ireton. Shortly after their marriage they started farming 5 miles north of Ireton where they resided for 26 years later moving to their present home in Ireton. To this union 2 daughters were born, Mildred Hagge Vander Mei and Leona Hagge.
On April 20, 1942 she suffered a stroke which paralyzed her left side leaving her an invalid. On the morning of May 31, 1946 she had another stroke leaving her in a coma. She passed away Wednesday June 5, at 10:30 A. M.
Her parents and one sister, Mrs. Martin Moeller preceded her in death. She leaves her husband. 2 daughters, one grandchild Beulah Vander Mei, 3 sisters, Hannah Zimmerman, Mrs. Court Struck. Mrs. Tillie Niehaus and one brother, John Zimmerman.
She reached the age of 60 years, 8 months and 27 days.
Funeral services were held in St. Paul's Lutheran church June 8, Rev. H. W. Krieger officiating. Interment was in Ireton Cemetery.
