William Boisen was born at Luzerne, IA. on March 13, 1879. Hannah R. Nenaber was born at Van Horne, Ia. on April 18, 1884.
Will and Hannah were married Oct. 13, 1904 at Vinton, Ia. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Luverne, Mn., then to Huron, S.D. where they farmed for 10 years. In 1915 they came to Sioux Co. and farmed until they retired to Hawarden in 1948. Will passed away May 1957 and Hannah passed away June 1977.
Their family of 9 children include 4 boys and 5 girls: Harvey of Ireton; Glen of Ruthton, Mn.; Orin of Hawarden; Ralph (deceased); Helen (Mrs. Roy Abbey) of Hawarden; Lois (Mrs. John Miniets) deceased; Ruth (Mrs. Ernest Popken) of LeMars; Neva (Mrs. Leland Kircher) of Hawarden and Bernice (Mrs. Raymond Eilts) of Hawarden.

Wiliam Frederick Boisen was the son of William Wilhelm Boisen 1852-1921 and Maria Christine Rostermundt 1856-1945. Hannah’s parents were Harmon Nenaber 1855- 1936 and Emma Catarina Mein 1862-1932

In 1900 William was at Eden Benton Iowa. In 1905 the residence was south Dakota. 1910 residence was Clyde, Beadle South Dakota. 1920 residence was Washington Tsp, Sioux county IA. 1930 residence was Washington Tsp Sioux county IA as well as in 1935 and1940.

Harvey L. Boisen, 77, of Ireton died Wednesday, July 14 at a Sioux City hospital after a lingering illness. Services were at 1:30 p.m., Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton. The Rev. Paul Sieveking officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under direction of the Dow Funeral Home of Ireton. Mr. Boisen was born Nov. 30, 1904, in Luverne, Minn. He married Ila Smith on Aug. 9, 1939, in Ireton. He worked as a trucker in Ireton for 45 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Orin of Hawarden; Glenn of Ruthton, Minn.; four sisters, Mrs. Roy (Helen) Abbey; Mrs. Leland (Neva) Kircher and Mrs. Raymond (Bernice) Eilts, all of Hawarden, and Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) Potken of LeMars.

Glenn William Boisen, 83, of Pipestone, Minnesota, and formerly of Hawarden, died Thursday, April 25, at Pipestone County Nursing Unit. Services were Saturday at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, Minnesota, with burial at Holland Cemetery. His wife was Anna Christine Miniets 1912-2001. One child indicated.

Orin R. Boisen, 55, of Hawarden died Friday, April 22 at a Sioux City hospital after a short illness. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 25 at St Paul's Lutheran Church at Ireton. The Rev. Paul Sieveking officiated Burial was at Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Mr. Boisen was born on Aug. 30,1927, near Ireton. He married Lois Anderson there on Sept. 21, 1947. After their marriage they lived in the Ireton area before moving to the Hawarden area in 1955. He was a member of St. Paul's Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Steve, of Hawarden; a daughter, Sharon Jurgensen of Beresford; a brother, Glenn of Ruthton, MN; four sisters, Mrs. Roy (Helen) Abbey, Mrs. Leland (Neva) Kircher and Mrs.Raymond (Bemice) Eilts, all of Hawarden, Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) Popken of LeMars and three grandchildren.

Lost their Baby Boy
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Boisen were called upon Sunday to mourn the death of their little son, aged about two years. He was afflicted with whooping cough several weeks ago, but appeared to be getting along very well until last week when he was attached with complication of flu and pneumonia. HELEN MARIE BOISEN (Mrs. Roy Abbey) born Feb 26, 1908 died Oct 7, 1994 Hawarden Independent October 13, 1994 Helen Marie Abbey, 86, of Hawarden died Tuesday, October 4, 1994, at Hass Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden. Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial took place in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation began at 1 p.m. Thursday, and the family was present from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden. Mrs. Abbey, the former Helen Marie Boisen, was born February 26, 1908, in Bancroft, SD, the daughter of William and Hannah (Nenaber) Boisen. She married Roy Abbey February 25, 1932, in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple farmed near Alcester, SD, and later near Ireton. They retired into Hawarden in 1970. Mr. Abbey died January 1, 1976, and she moved to the care center April 10, 1991. Mrs. Abbey was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden. She was a past active member of St Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton and the Ladies Aid of the church. Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Lois and Bill Jacobs of Allison, Janet and Martis Jans of Yankton, SD, and Janice and John Vander Fee of Ireton; a brother, Glenn Boisen and His wife, Annie of Pipestone, MN; two sisters and their husbands, Neva and Leland Kircher and Bernice and Raymond Eilts, all of Hawarden; and eight grandchildren, Mark Jacobs, Jim Jans, Tom Vander Feen, Greg Vander Feen, Holly Jacobs, Kim Buryanek, Lynn Sweetman and Suzanne Vander Feen; tow greatgranddaughters, Chelsey and Carly Jacobs; and many nephews and nieces. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Harvey and Orin Boisen, and two sisters, Lois Miniets and Ruth Popken.

Mrs. John Miniets, 63, or Akron, died at a Sioux City hospital Tuesday of a brief illness.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church at Akron with the Rev. Durwood Clauson officiating. Burial was in St John's Lutheran Cemetery at Craig. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Schroeder Funeral Home of Akron. Mrs. Miniets, the former Lois Boisen, was born June 27, 1915 at Ireton. She was married Sept. 21, 1947 at Ireton. The couple farmed near Akron. Survivors include the widower; her mother, Mrs. Hannah Boisen of Hawarden; brothers, Harvey of Ireton, Glenn of Ruthton, Minn. and Orin of Hawarden; sister, Mrs. Roy (Helen) Abbey, Mrs. Leland (Neva) Kircher and Mrs. Ray (Bernice) Eilts, all of Hawarden and Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) Popken of LeMars.

Ruth E. Popken, age 72, of LeMars, died Saturday, March 7, 1992, at Matney Colonial Manor in South Sioux City. Services were held Tuesday at St. John's American Lutheran Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Craig. Mrs. Popken was born March 4, 1920, in Ireton, the daughter of Will and Hannah (Nienaber) Boisen. She married Ernest John Popken February 9, 1939, in Ireton. The couple retired from farming in 1970 and moved into Le Mars. He died October 3, 1987. She was a cook at Floyd Valley Hospital and the Senior Center in Le Mars. Mrs. Popken was a member of St. John's American Lutheran Church in Le Mars. While a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Craig, she taught Sunday school and was active in ladies' groups. She was a Plymouth County 4-H leader of "Grant Clever Clovers" for 15 years. Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Evelyn and Donald Nelson of Newcastle, NE, Elaine and Harold Fader of South Sioux City and Donna and Richard Klaassen of Omaha, NE; nine grandchildren, Randy Nelson and his wife, Dorian, of St. Joseph, MO, Tammi Nelson of Fremont, NE, Kirk Nelson of Newcastle, NE, Julie Brown and her husband, the Rev. Scott Brown, of Wilkes-Barre, PA, John and Janet Fader of South Sioux City, and Trevor, Stephanie and Ranae Klaassen of Omaha; three great grandchildren, Nicole Nelson and Ryan and Aaron Brown; a brother, Glenn Boisen, and his wife, Annie, of Pipestone, MN; and three sisters, Helen Abbey, Neva Kircher and, her husband, Lee, and Bernice Eilts and her husband, Raymond, all of Hawarden. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; two brothers, Harvey and Orin; and a sister, Lois Miniets.

8. NEVA BOISEN (Mrs. Leland Kircher) born Sep 25, 1922 and died Jan 3, 2017
HAWARDEN, IOWA-Neva Lillian Kircher, 94, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden, Iowa. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS in Hawarden, Iowa. The Rev. Michael Boothby will officiate. Interment will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon, with the family present from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Porter Funeral Home. Neva Lillian Kircher was born September 25, 1922 in Ireton, IA to William and Hannah (Nenaber) Boisen. She was baptized November 5, 1922 and confirmed in 1936 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ireton, IA. On March 16, 1947, she married Leland Kircher. To this union two daughters were born, Nancy Koob and Paula Schuller. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden, IA where she taught Sunday School a number of years and was an active member of the Ladies aid for many years. She and Leland lived on the family farm southeast of Hawarden until her husband’s death on May 6, 1995. She then moved to Hawarden. The love of her life were her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Neva is survived by her two daughters, Nancy (Dick) Koob of Manly, IA and Paula (Larry) Schuller of Ireton, IA; four grandchildren: Connie (Andy) Smith of Hales Corners, WI, Brian (Emily) Koob of Rockwell, IA, Andrea (Barry) Kracht of Hardwick, MN, and Eric (Jamie) Schuller of Ireton, IA; 10 great grandchildren; special friend, Lester Janssen of Hawarden, IA; brother-in law, Raymond Eilts of Hawarden, IA; and sisters-in-law, Lois (Duane) Meether and Jeanette Kircher all of Hawarden, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 4 brothers and their wives; 4 sisters and their husbands; brother-in-law, Arlo Kircher; and several nieces and nephews. Bernice Eilts was born December 2, 1924 at Ireton, Iowa the daughter of William and Johanna (Nenaber) Boisen. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ireton. Bernice graduated from the Ireton High School in 1942. She married Raymond Eilts on August 6, 1944 at her parent’s home in Ireton.
They farmed near Ireton until moving to a farm near Hawarden in 1949. They retired into Hawarden in 1995. Bernice was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She died Wednesday, January 6, 1999 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden at the age of 74 years.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Raymond; children and their spouses, Gloria and Henry Unruh of Burke, Virginia, Bobby and Marialyce Eilts of Urbandale, Iowa, Richard and Vikki Eilts of Wakonda, South Dakota, Pat and Terry Karr of Hawarden, Mary and Kenny Van Wyhe of Ireton and John and Lynn Eilts of Hawarden; 13 grandchildren, Matthew and Stephanie Unruh, Brian and Andrew Eilts, Jason, Joshua and Colin Eilts, Angela De Raad, Travis, Tracie and Landon Karr, Blaine and Ashlyn Eilts; 2 great-grandchildren, Jessilyn and Jarith Karr; and sister, Neva Kircher of Hawarden.
Bernice was prededed in death by her parents; brothers, Harvey, Glenn, Ralph and Orin; sister, Helan Abbey, Lois Miniets and Ruth Popken; and 2 grandsons, Ryan Christopher Eilts and Kenen Ray Van Wyhe.

Rites Held For William Boisen

Funeral services for William Boisen, 78, were held Saturday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran church, Rev. O. P. Pittack officiating. Interment was at the Ireton cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral home.
William Frederick Boisen, the oldest survivor of the family of William and Mary Boisen, was born March 13, 1879 in Luzerne, Ia, where he was baptized in the Lutheran church on April 16 of the same year. On October 13, 1904, he married Hannah Nenaber at Vinton, Ia. and shortly thereafter, moved near Huron, S. D., where he was engaged in farming the next ten years. In 1915, they moved to Sioux county and lived on several farms in the Ireton vicinity. In 1948 they retired from farming and moved to 601 14th street in Hawarden.

Mr. and Mrs. Boisen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October, 1954. Mr. Boisen suffered his first stroke about 3 1/2 years ago and since then sustained a broken arm and later a broken hip. Tuesday he suffered a light stroke and died Wednesday morning (May 22, 1957).

Surviving are the widow, Hannah; three sons, Harvey of Ireton, Glenn of Holland, Minn., and Orin of Hawarden; five daughters, Mrs. Helen Abbey of Ireton, Mrs. Lois Miniets of Akron and Mrs. Ruth Popken of Struble, Mrs. Neva Kircher and Mrs. Bernice Eilts, both of Hawarden; two brothers, H. A. Boisen of Perry, Ia. and Edward Boisen of Cedar Rapids , Ia.; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Garber of Van Horn, Ia., and Mrs. Lena Weichman of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends who came from a distance to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Boisen of Perrv, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Boisen, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Weichman and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mease, all of Cedar Rapids, IA., Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nenaber and family of Iroquois, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Clint Nenaber of Milaca, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Pieper of Lismore, Minn,; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jacobs and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Jacobs and family of Allison, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. J. J.Boisen, Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis Boisen and Mrs. Chris Boisen, all of Luverne, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nenaber of Independence, Mo., and Mrs. Ella Fett and Mrs. Glenn Holz and son of Dysart, Ia.

Hawarden-- Mrs. Will Boisen, 93, of Hawarden, died Tuesday at a nursing home here.
Services were at l:30 p.m. Friday in Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dwight Rengstorf officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton, with the Dow Funeral Home of Hawarden in charge.

Mrs. Boisen, the former Hannah Nenaber was born April 18, l884 in Benton County. She was married Oct. l3, l904 at Vinton. The couple farmed near to Huron, S.D. soon after marriage and in the Ireton-Hawarden area in 1915. They retired to Hawarden in l948.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mr. Boisen died May 22, l957.
Survivors include three sons, Harvey of Ireton, Glenn of Ruthton, Minn., and Orin of Hawarden; four daughters, Mrs. Roy (Helen)Abbey, Mrs. Leland (Neva) Kircher, and Mrs. Raymond (Berniece) Eilts, all of Hawarden, and Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) Popken of LeMars; two brothers, Clinton of Easton, Minn., and Harry of Everett, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. May Jacobs of Allison; l7 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
