His death coming suddenly as it did, is a great blow to his family and friends. People who had seen him and talked with him a few hours before could hardly realize that he was dead.
Mr. Flynn had lived in Rock Valley some nineteen years, and was well known throughout this vicinity, and his genial, friendly disposition made him many friends. He was a men who always had a kind cheerful greeting for those whom he met. He was kind to his family, and almost any request they might make of him was granted.

He spent the first half of his life in the county where he was born. Twenty-eight years ago he came to Emmetsburg, Iowa, where he lived nine years, coming from there to Rock Valley about nineteen years ago, where he had since resided.
He was united in marriage to Katherine Maher, April 26, 1898, at Estherville, Iowa. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn two children, Mary and Katherine; one child, Frances, died six years ago.
