The correct spelling of the surname would be Niemantsverdriet, of which there were a few others in Sioux County. The Sioux County Herald, November 3, 1897, has a longer obituary with this spelling:
L. Niemantsverdriet, who has made his home in Sioux county for the past seventeen years, died last Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. Kleinjan, near Hull. He had been failing for some time and death was not unexpected. Mr. Niemantsverdriet and his wife left Orange City for Hull only a few weeks ago. The funeral was held Friday from the First Reformed church in this city, Rev. M. Kolyn conducting the services. Deceased was seventy-six years of age and was a native of the Netherlands, coming to this country in 1867. He was an excellent man and his death will be greatly regretted.

Mrs. Kleinjan appears to be Nellie Niemantsverdriet, who married Floris Kleinjan in 1891 (marriage license announcement in the Alton Democrat, Feb. 14, 1891).
The Clou van de Lagendijk Genealogy (public family tree on Ancestry.com) has Floris Kleinjan (1853-1936), with spouse Pieternella Niemantsverdriet (1856-1900). Her parents were Leendert
