Employment: While in California, he was employed by the City of Marina Fire Department before returning to Iowa. Over the years, he worked as a kill floor foreman at the Oakland (IA) Beef Plant; he then worked for Walnut Creek Fertilizer and Regional Water for a number of years.
Hobbies/Interests: Loved camping, boating, and riding the waves on jet skis, especially at his favorite spot, Lake Okoboji, IA; also enjoyed hunting and fishing; his greatest joy stemmed from being a constant supporter of his grandchildren, cheering them on from the starting line of elementary through high school events.
