Military service: Served in the U. S. Navy: 4 years active duty and 10 years in the reserves

Employment: Darrell was employed by Farmland in advertising and sales for 44 years before he retired; also farmed and raised hogs for years and was well known for growing and selling the “world’s best sweetcorn,” a family business that he proudly passed down to his daughters and grandchildren.
Hobbies/Interests: Proud member and former commander of American Legion Post 0066 for 40 years; served 20 years on the board of Farmland Credit Union; member of UFCW; was a Little League coach, a lay minister at St. Boniface Church and a longtime Iowa High School baseball and softball umpire; enjoyed playing cards and board games with family; enjoyed trips to the casino; enjoyed gardening, coon hunting, classic cars, boating on the Missouri River, attending swap meets and auctions, snowmobiling and playing horseshoes or “HORSE” at family events. He loved time spent with his grandchildren, watching their plays, band concerts, and sporting events, and was especially proud to watch his granddaughter play college softball this spring.
