Employment: Helped his father with work on the farm until his marriage; after acquiring his master’s degree, Everette began teaching in Harlan, IA, in 1969 and continued there until his retirement in 1999, while still continuing to farm. He was then employed by the Farm Service Agency where he enjoyed working outside measuring grain bins.

Hobbies/Interests: Involved in his community as a Trustee of Fairview Township, as a member of the Harlan Library Board, and served on the East Pottawattamie County Fair Board; dedicated member of the Fred Funston American Legion Post in Avoca, IA, where he held the offices of Commander and Chaplain, and was also a member of the Mt. Nebo Masonic Lodge in Avoca. He enjoyed following his sons' musical activities, their scouting careers and also participated as a Scout Leader; enjoyed playing cards with family; loved to read, particularly mysteries and westerns; enjoyed his cabin on Black Hawk Lake; enjoyed hunting and fishing
