Survived by: Wife of 30 years, Linda Vogt of Harlan, IA; son, Melvin “Mike” Vogt, Jr. of Council Bluffs, IA; daughter, Nichole Vogt of Harlan, IA; son, Nicholas Vogt of Harlan, IA; stepdaughters, Cindy Madden of Manning, IA and Tricia Rietveld of Harlan, IA; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons; brother, Mick (spouse, Kim) Vogt of Madison, NE; other family members and friends

Employment: After leaving the Air Force, Mel then worked for the U. S. Army Corps as an engineer contract specialist.

Hobbies/Interests: Mel, along with wife Linda, held several different positions in the Goldwing Touring Association; he loved any chance he had to ride; enjoyed watching western movies, reading, crocheting, woodcarving, fishing and camping; he played the guitar, joining different jam groups around the area and would also sing; Mel and Linda enjoyed spending 7 months of the year in Texas. Mostly, he enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren.
