Education: Graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School, Panama, IA, Class of 1942; she then attended the College of Mount Saint Scholastica, Atchison, KS and the University of Nebraska, Omaha, NE, graduating as a registered nurse from Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA in 1947

Religious affiliation: Baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Panama, IA; was a devout Catholic and attended St. Michaels Catholic Church, Harlan, IA, as a parishioner and as a member of their guild. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court-St. Katherine #266, Earling, IA for more than 70 years.

Employment: Judy initially worked at St. Anthony Hospital in Denver, CO, then at Bisgard Hospital in Harlan, IA; she was one of the first employees at Myrtue Hospital in Harlan, IA when it opened in 1954. In November 2004, Judy celebrated 50 years of employment at Myrtue Hospital.

Hobbies/Interests: Active participant of Mercy Hospital Alumnae, Iowa Rural Letter Carriers, Myrtue Hospital and Legion Auxiliaries, and of Omaha (NE) and Harlan (IA) Quilt Guilds. She was a talented quilter, completing many quilts that became gifts for family and friends. Her favorite quilt won top awards in a quilt show. Judy enjoyed traveling, including having visited all 50 states in the U. S., trips taken to England, Ireland, and many countries in Europe; mostly, she loved to visit her children and grandchildren, attending as many of their events as possible.
